Kite Surfing Lessons Biography.

Kitesurfing is the fastest growing watersport in the world. With proper training and equipment, you can experience the freedom of riding with the power of the wind. You don't have to learn how to surf, you just need an open mind to learn this new and exciting sport.

Kite surf lessons from Paracademy Extreme are the best around and our three day programme will see you safely through the early stages to a competent beginner. As with any naturally powered sport, lessons are imperative as the kites used are performance machines capable of delivering a nasty bight in untrained hands!

Our course will run over three days weather permitting and cover all aspects of the sport from theory to practice. Training is by professional instructors many of whom have passed through our ITC (instructor training course) so you have a guarantee of first class tuition.

Day one is your introduction to the sport, a background theory of kite surfing, the kit and our natural environment in which you will ride. A good understanding of the wind, strength and direction is paramount to the sport. Many of you will come from other wind or water sports so this will be easy for you. Some may never have been involved in wind sports at all – no matter, we all start from the basics ensuring a thorough knowledge our environment. The afternoon of day one is where you will have a hand on session with a power kite on dry land. You will explore the kite’s abilities and performance, where the kite flies best, where the kite’s power is best – all essential for the safe control of a modern high performance kite surf kite.

Day two you will have the chance to take to the water. In the shallows you will fly a full size kite boarding wing as you did the day before with a trainer kite. You will learn the principles of kite surfing accompanied by your instructor and with a safety boat on hand. Soon you will be body dragging – using the power of the kite to pull you through the water. It’s great fun!

Day three and you’re introduced to the kite surfing boards. There are many types of board and your instructor will show you the differences before you learn the basics of the essential water start – using the kite to pull you onto your board. This is the longest part of the course and the bit where you will join all your knowledge gained the two days before. From here on in you’re a kite surfer and the learning curve is steep once the basics are mastered.
Certification is by the IKO (international Kiteboarding organisation) and cards will be issued on satisfactory completion of your three day course. Your IKO card allows you to kite surf and hire kit around the globe and is internationally recognised. Paracademy Extreme is an IKO affiliated centre.

Personal training is available on request for either 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 persons. Personal training is dependent on instructor availability and all outdoor courses are subject to cancellation due to adverse weather conditions.
