Kite Surfing Accident Biography.

A kite surfer died after he hit the concrete at Redcliffe's Suttons Beach yesterday afternoon.

The 28-year-old Wynnum man was kite surfing on Suttons Beach when he was caught up in a gust of wind.

He then hit the concrete footpath and suffered head and chest injuries.

A Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said emergency services were called to the incident at 2.26pm and the man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a critical condition.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the man died from his injuries late Sunday afternoon.

A 26-year-old woman from Carinthia, has died in Vietnam whilst kite surfing. The family has now suffered a second tragedy after the brother of the girl died in a car accident last year.

According to Kleine Zeitung and the spokesperson for the Foreign Office in Vienna, Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, the young woman was on the coast of Vietnam at the end of November when the unexplained accident took place. She was found dead in the sea but the reason for her death remains unclear.

"Our embassy was alerted at the end of November by the travelling companion of the girl," said Launsky-Tieffenthal. According to Kleine Zeitung the girl had taken time off to travel after completing her studies in Biology at the University of Vienna. She had hoped to remain in Vietnam until February 2012.
